Mamie Eisenhower Pink

by gracie ~ July 1st, 2009

Still playing with Lucas Object Texture Studio. Former First Lady Mamie Eisenhower loved pink. REALLY LOVED pink. Here she is in her Inaugural gown:

Apparently she loved pink so much she redecorated everything she could get her hands on in that color. Like pink on top of pink on top of pink. Pink.

The image of velvet I used for the texture of this sofa started out an acid green. I was playing with hue saturation sliders in Paint Shop Pro just goofing off and stopped to answer the phone. When i got back I noticed that I had stopped at this 1950s pink color and decided I liked it:

The mesh is from TSR (boo!) by murano and you can find it in the twelvelivingroom.zip here. The pillows shown are the default that come with it, I made recolors of the pillows but they don’t have any texture so use whichever. I doubt Mamie would approve of this sofa; even though it’s pink it doesn’t seem like her style, it was just the first couch I recolored with this fabric. Sorry Mamie!

Now that Sims 3 is out, I can make bedding for Sims 2!

by gracie ~ July 1st, 2009

I don’t know why it took me until the end of the Sims 2 run to figure this shit out but damn, making bedding is easy. I ran across a tutorial by the awesome Rebecah at Simsvalley 3 here which had instructions for creating bedding using Lucas Object Texture Studio 3 from Aussie Topenders here(second program in the list) and tada!

Bedding!

Movie Posters

by gracie ~ June 28th, 2009

None of these are what I’d consider favorite movies of mine but I thought they all kind of went together aesthetically. Sort of. Except maybe My Fair Lady but I liked the distressed state of it so I threw it in anyway.

The only one not on a Majestic mesh by justmoi is The Sweet Smell of Success which is on Two Dogs and an Olive.

Blue Steel

by gracie ~ June 26th, 2009

So if you’re a movie geek like me the two words in the title bring to mind this:

but the first thing to come to my mind was this image*:

neither of which have anything to do with this post. Ha. I made a fairly decent wall and a fairly sucky floor out of the blue corrugated steel Maxis roof texture:

Wow, my first attempt at adding shadow to text with Paint Shop Pro is a YOOGE fail.

*Why yes, I did work in a video store for most of the nineties, how did you know? Also, Jamie Leigh Curtis will be awesome forever and ever. That is all.

Where Teddy Bears Go To Die

by gracie ~ June 25th, 2009

This is going to be one long ass, picture intense post considering it’s about a wall and a floor. Ready? Let’s go!

Rapsheba555 made a set of walls and floors way back in 2007 that matched perfectly the various Maxis roof colors in the game. I yelled, AWESOME! and downloaded them right away because I’m always making houses that have weird gaps in the roof where I wish there were a wall or floor that matched the roof so I won’t have random bits of siding and brick sticking out when it should be roof material (see my post “The Tudor” for a recent example.) Roof. Tada! Rapsheba555 to the rescue.

I checked Rapsheba555’s original post before I decided to do this because I wasn’t going to mess with trying to make these if they were already available, you know? ‘Cause I’m lazy like that. She hadn’t updated so I made the Weathered Corrugated Steel wall and floor.

Just Dance Itll Be Okay

by gracie ~ June 24th, 2009

I downloaded these images a while ago because they reminded me of some artwork that was in my or my sister’s room when we were little which is nice and makes me all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic for that tiny three bedroom miniature Cape my parents rented my first seven years on Earth. But there’s a problem. Every time I run across the picture of the two kids dancing, Lady GaGa starts on an endless loop in my head that nothing short of an icepick to the eye will alleviate. So of course I had to share that. Your welcome.

That’s Love Game on the left and Just Dance on the right. Both are on the “Raven” mesh from the Majestic series by justmoi. You must have that mesh in your game or these will not show up. I highly recommend you get the whole Majestic series and the frame recolors pack (there are links to all the Majestic paintings in that post.)

Pulp Fiction Set 1

by gracie ~ June 23rd, 2009

In case you haven’t noticed by my recent Wordpress theme change, I’ve become a little bit obsessed with pulp fiction-y style art. Robert McGinnis is by far my favorite artist of this type. Book covers, movie posters, I love it all. So of course my brain went straight to “I must make these for my Sims!” And so it shall be:

These were made with justmoi from Mod The Sims’ Majestic Series Photo Studio Templates and you must have the original “Majestic Beauty” and “Majestic Grace” meshes for these to show up in your game. Not the templates meshes, but the painting meshes. I highly recommend you get the whole majestic series (which sadly, unless I’m missing it, are not available in one big pack. Just do a member search at modthesims for justmoi and download them individually. It’s worth it) and frame recolors because they make the design possibilites endless.

Eames Chairs

by gracie ~ June 22nd, 2009

I finally got SimPE running so I made a painting just to make sure Photo Studio was going to work right. I just have the base game templates installed right now so this is a cool looking painting on the dreaded Lady On Red template:

I’m installing all the templates I can find as we speak so maybe I’ll have something nicer in the future. Oh and sorry for the game camera screenie, I didn’t know how to prtscrn without a prtscrn button and I didn’t have a screenshot program installed.
